Learning with LUSC

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never sailed before there a plenty of opportunities to learn in LUSC! With our hosts – Bolton Sailing Club – we can now offer RYA courses to anybody who is interested in learning from a professional and the chance of gaining a qualification. These courses provide a recognised qualificationsand cater for complete beginners with course Levels 1 and 2 “Start Sailing” and “Basic Skills”. These courses are a great starting point if you have never sailed before or if you have sailed in the past and would like a little more confidence on the water. Once you’ve mastered the basics then coming along to sailing during the week furthers your confidence as the members of the club all help each other develop their sailing skills. If, after learning the basics, you fancy taking part in team racing at Lancaster and competing in competitions like Roses, Big B and Big M, then we run land based team racing theory sessions on campus, then the following week we put what we have learnt into practice on the water. As a club we are in the process of employing a coach to help us further our team racing skills, and hopefully make us a much more competitive team at events we partake in.
